Hi! We want to introduce ourselves, and I'm next up! I'm Komal Patel, one of the co-founders of Little & Mighty. I live in Austin, Texas, with my husband and daughter. I'm the one who hand writes notes in your package and I get to prepare the shirts for shipping. I've answered some questions below so you can get to know me a little more.
1. What is your favorite color?
Teal – the perfect combination of blue and green.
2. Where were you born?
3. What was the last book you read?
Goodness, I've not read a book in a long time! That's very surprising since when I was kid I couldn't get my nose out of a book. But if I'm recalling correctly the last book was Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese from the book club I was in years ago. Now I'm inspired to find another read soon!
4. What was your first job?
I grew up in the family business, a motel, so I’d say that was it. I helped clean rooms, took reservations, rented rooms, etc. Outside of the motel my first job was bussing tables at a seafood restaurant….it was so gross!
5. Do you love or hate roller coasters?
6. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?
Sure did, my brother gave it to me. He called me Gomer after the TV character Gomer Pyle.
7. What did you want to be when you were little?
I wanted to own an orphanage. I guess I always wanted to be a mama!
8. What would you sing at Karaoke night?
Piece of My Heart by Janis Joplin
9. What makes you laugh the most?
I'd have to say funny movies - Hangover (the first one), Horrible Bosses, National Lampoon's Vacations (almost all of them) & Bridesmaids come to mind first. That dry humor is what really makes me laugh!
10. What is your favorite movie?
Well, I don't have a favorite. I like funny movies, action/adventure movies and most of the animated movies out. But there isn't ONE that is a total fave.
11. What is your favorite dessert?
Dark chocolate coconut milk ice cream by Coconut Bliss with strawberries....it's SO yummy!
12. Would you rather vacation in Hawaii or Alaska, and why?
Hawaii, love to sit on the beach, feel the warm sun and listen to the sound of the waves! The sound of the waves is very calming to me.
13. What is something most people don’t know about you?
I love to dance! I’ve always wanted to take classical Indian dance classes. I especially enjoy dancing to Bollywood music as well as two-stepping and line dancing to Country music.
14. What three things do you think of the most each day?
15. Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?
16. How did you meet your spouse?
At his brother’s wedding in England about 20 years ago. My husband is my sister-in-law's first cousin. She invited me to go to the wedding and I jumped at the opportunity - who doesn't want to go to England? We spent most of our time with her cousins and my husband was one of those cousins.
Just after a few days of spending time with my husband I knew I wanted to marry him. After the wedding we went our separate ways but I always thought about him. Over the years I'd occasionally see him when I visited family in England. Then about, 11 years ago we started communicating which turned into a long distance relationship for about a year before we got married. I knew I'd marry him - one of the best things that's happened in my life is being with him.
17. How did you come up with your kids names?
A friend of ours suggested the name Sanvi to us. We both liked it and added it to our very short baby names list. Meanwhile, I did a search on the web for Indian baby girl names, I wanted something with a nice meaning and came across Sanvi and again it stuck with us.
Sanvi in Sanskrit is another name for the Goddess Lakshmi. In my culture there is a saying that being blessed with a daughter means you have been blessed with Goddess Lakshmi. We feel very blessed to have her so we thought the name was perfect for her!
18. What motivates you?
My daughter, my husband, my family and friends. All the good people around me motivate me in various ways.
19. What is one thing your kid does that just slays you?
Man, there are so many but one would be the way she kisses. She has a few ways of giving kisses, her most common way if we ask her for a kiss is she takes her index finger, digs it into our cheek and makes a kissing sound with her mouth. Her lips are NO where near us, just her finger, digging into our cheek and sounds of kisses in the air...it's hilarious! But sometime she'll get real close, look straight into my eyes, take my face in her hands and just plant a big 'ole kiss on my nose, chin, or lips - those are my favorite! They make me laugh and get me every time.
20. Are you a night or morning person?
Morning! From the moment I wake up I can jump into a conversation, start processing my day, start organizing things I need to do, etc. Total opposite of my husband who is so quiet in the morning. Poor guy.
So that's a little bit about me, thank you for reading! Next up you will get to know our third mama who makes up Little & Mighty.
WHO WOULD YOU WANT TO PLAY YOU IN A MOVIE OF YOUR LIFE?
P.S. If you enjoyed this, you may also enjoy MEET AMANDA.
